I just thought I would show what the Limited Edition cover looks like. What makes this edition of the card game so special is the bonus card that will only be available in this particular set. If you dont get it when it comes out, you never will.
I hope you like it!

More Gord Coming Soon!
Gary and I have written a new Gord the Rogue short story that is very likely to end up in a new fantasy anthology for Flying Pen Press.
We had originally written the story for magazine publication, but it seems the story will find a happy home in a book form.
This new story takes a place a little after the Return of Gord, which appeared in Dragon Magazine. Its a fast paced high adventurer, and this time Gord is not alone, Chert his barbarian companion is with him!
Once we get a release date from FFP we will let you know.

Games created by K.R.Bourgoine
I have been asked a few times for a list of all the games I have created and to simplify I will answer all the queries at once right here. These are listed in the order in which they were made:
Devils and Kings
Adventurer: The Board Game (some of the older fans might recall this being originally titled Dragon’s Horde)
Adventurer: The Card Game
Adventurer: The Role Playing Game
Flagtastic (an educational arithmetic game for children)
Adventurer: The Arena Game
Adventurer: The Dragon Game
And just the other day I started working on a game that will be called Pox

New Gord the Rogue novel
I have written about a detailed 19k word outline of at least the first 3rd of what might possibly be a new Gord the Rogue novel. It was put together from a collaboration of ideas from Gary Gygax and myself and I think its shaping up very nicely.
At the moment though Gary has been overtaken by other projects so we haven’t had time to work out exactly how we want it all to come to an end.
Hopefully at Gencon we will both have a bit of time to work out the final details.

Gencon here we come...
I will be at Gencon Indy again this year and hopefully with a big surprise! Can’t quite reveal it yet, but if it happens, it should be pretty cool.
If you are looking for me I probably wont be far from the Trolllord Game's booth.

Adventurer: The Arena Game
In mid June I went to Wisconsin for an annual conference called Lake Geneva Gaming Convention. It is in Gary Gygax’s hometown likewise also the birthplace of Dungeons and Dragons.
It’s a fun small little Con where you are likely to spend time chatting with all the original gamers of gaming. Every year when I go I bring at least one new game I have created. Last year it was Adventurer: The Card Game, and this year it was Adventurer: The Arena Game.
I think the game went over well, I had only just made it before I left so all the games we played there were play testing sessions and I think they all really helped. By the time I left WI I was pretty sure the game completed.
The premise of the game is that each of the two players builds an army from a pool different types of troops. Then on a board looking very similar to a checker board the armies battle it out with the aid of a huge collection of magical items of wondrous power that are randomly drawn each round.
Here is a picture of Gary beating me at my own game. I had actually made this game with him in mind, knowing that he likes strategy/tactical games.

Adventurer: The Card Game Update!
The game is moving forward. Earlier this I sent off all the art files to Trolllord Games who are going to manufacture it and distribute it. There is good reason to hope that it will see print sometime this summer.

Yet even more Gord!
For all you Gord the Rogue fans out there Gary Gygax and I have been tossing out ideas for a third Gord short story. He tossed me an idea for a story, then I batted it back to him as a loose outline, now I await more of his tinkering, to which I will again add mine, and after we do this a few times we will, hopefully, end up with a new story for everybody.

K.R.Bourgoine's Adventurer: The Card Game
Work on K.R.Bourgoine's Adventurer: The Card Game is all complete on my end. Which means the game is now in a print ready format. Now, all we have to do is wait for the manufacturer to have some free time to get it on the market. Currently they have a full schedule, so we might not see anything until late summer.
Here is the cover of the box, and Psst!, it’s a secret, but that is actually Macal and Lalliard, the Acquisitioners themselves, on the cover and in the game!
(if you click on it, its not so fuzzy)

A possible home for the new Gord?
We may have found a place to publish the new Gord the Rogue short story that Gary Gygax and I have written.
We will have to wait and see if it comes to pass though. I’ll keep you updated.

Another Gord the Rogue story!
Gary Gygax and I have written a new Gord the Rogue short story. We had thought of it finding a home at Dragon Magazine like the previous story, but it seems the WoTC is closing up shop on Dragon.
So the story, titled, A Wizard’s Revenge will have to find a home elsewhere.

The cover of Dragon Magazine issue #344 has been released. This is the cover of the first Dragon Magazine in which I have an article. The best part for me is that it is an story I wrote with Gary Gygax.

Release Dates!
The new Gord the Rogue story by Gary Gygax and myself has been named aptly The Return of Gord. According to Dragon’s website the June #344 issue of the magazine has shipped to subscribers! Then on May 24th it will hit the shelves for all the other readers!
Now on top of that there are pretty solid rumors that we might write at least two more stories featuring the infamous rogue. Mentally I have already been plotting some new story ideas that we might be able to use. Unfortunately the soonest I will be able to start working on them is in June some time, which works out well because I will be seeing Gary that month and it will likely give us time to solidify our plans.
One change in these stories we have already decided upon though is that Chert, Gord’s barbarian friend, will definitely make an appearance.

Want to hear some big news?
Now its time for some big news. Really BIG! Even huge perhaps. By some miracle I have been able to talk Gary Gygax, the legendary creator of Dungeons and Dragons, to allow me to help him create a new Gord the Rogue story for Dragon Magazine.
It’s a long story as to how all this transpired but the short of it is that we have just completed the first Gord story to be written in many many years. The bad news is that Erik Mona, publisher of Dragon magazine, has opted to hold the story for the special super sized 30th anniversary issue of the magazine in June. While I like the fact that they want to hold the story for a special event, it does mean that the story won’t see light for another six months or so.
More on the name of the story later…

Check it off, its done!
I have completed work on the book, Extreme Tech: How to Build the Ultimate Gaming PC. It feels very good to have that over with. From what I understand since all deadlines were made it should be out in October. Once I get more details I will post them and a link to the book on Amazon.
Already I am in the midst of another large project. It’s easier for me to jump from one to another without a break. I hope to have this one done before the end of July. As it is not actually a novel I might find a way to self-publish it once it is complete. I will keep you updated as things progress.

A Secret Revealed...
I can finally talk about the un-disclosed project I have been working on. An editor from John Wiley & Sons, Inc contacted me a short while ago. They are the largest computer book company in the world. Not to mention all of their other areas of focus and brands they own. They contacted me to write a book about computers, called the Extreme Tech: How to Build the Ultimate Gaming PC. I of course accepted and have been writing furiously on it as the book has a Christmas publication date.

Time for a re-write
I have been very busy on re-writing the first book. I have completely changed the beginning and I feel the new result gives a much stronger and more vibrant feel to the world and the characters. Also with the geography of Aerinth changing I felt it was necessary to start them physically closer to their goal.

Another one is done!
Book Three, The Acquisitioners: Chronicles Volume One is complete! At least in first draft. I finished it a few days ago and I am extremely pleased with the results. The book comes is about 93000 words.
It was a difficult task. My life has been extremely busy these last few months. Through my other job, I have been traveling back to Europe, hitting Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, and my long missed England. I must say, jet lag does not help the writing process.
The plan was to now go straight back to work on a revision of Book Two, but a sample of Book One has been requested so I, as always, feel the need to go back through it and give it a little more polish. Actually, I have come up with a completely new beginning, one I feel is much, much stronger than what is already there. So I will be diligently working on that for a while, or at least as much as I can between my next trip to Washington DC and also one back to Italy.

Close to the end
While working on the new secret project I am also working hard and diligently on Book Three, and I can finally see the end coming near. In the next week or two, if luck is on my side, I should have the rough draft of it completed! I am very excited about this, there is a lot in it that is completely new to me in terms of writing styles, so to have it be done will be for me a great achievement.
Once that is done, and as I juggle the other projects I will be going back full speed for a complete rewrite of Book Two; The Gem of the Gods.

Secrets Abound!
Sorry for the long delay, things have been busy, but in a good way. I have been asked to work on a currently un-disclosed project, which I am very excited about. It is always heartening when others find your skills desirable for their projects.
I have started this project and soon hope I can share with everybody what it is about. It is hard to gauge how long this will take, but I will be shortly devoting a large amount of my time to it.

Site Update
The Characters Page has been updated. For anybody new to the series it gives a nice overview of who Lalliard and Macal are.
I will be adding that information as a preface page to the sample story so that readers can start off with a more familiar relationship with the characters.

Thank you!
Thank you very much for all the kind words, I am glad the sample of The Chamber of the Heart short-story is being so well received! All the initial reviews have been favorable.
I would like to give a big thank you James Russell for his tremendous help in getting the sample ready to be released. Thank you very much for taking so much of your personal time to get this story out to the world.
There is good news for all of you who have asked for more stories to read. While not part of the Acquisitioners saga I have updated the Stories section to include the published Lejends Magazine stories. I have also posted the third story from the set for you to read!

Sample The Chamber of the Heart!
A 47-page sample of The Chamber of the Heart is now available for download!
Please download a copy, read it, and then let us know what you think. And please pass it around!
I choose this story to use as the sample because I feel it gives the reader a good sense of the world and the characters.
The complete short story is 32,197 words and 74 pages long. It is the first story in The Acquisitioners: Chronicles Volume One novel.
I hope you enjoy it!

The Acquisitioners die for adventuer!
Several long pages of the latest story were written today. Currently it is still untitled. Normally about halfway through writing a story the name just appears. Half the time I start with a name and the other half it just comes along when it's ready. Each of the short stories in The Acquisitioners: Chronicles Volume One has a very different feel but are still all of the same vein.
The Chamber of the Heart is filled with a good deal of introspection on Macal's behalf about his struggle in dealing with Lalliard's highly aggressive tactics and mentality while the world starts to turn into chaos around them.
The Wizard of Fate is the opposite of The Chamber of the Heart and is clearly based around Lalliard and his past. A good deal of Lalliard's history is shown as he is forced to help the Counsel of Xazarnth, the school of magic, in tracking down a renegade wizard who threatens to betray all wizards to their deaths at the hands of the Lumar Olrmar.
The Shell of Oblight is a pure action-adventure tale that takes the Acquisitioners from Airesbornia, the Plane of Fire, all the way to the ocean depths of Asonia as they battle the wicked cunning elf named Osthen the Cruel.
The forth and untitled tale is a murder-mystery in a fashion that could only be an Acquisitioners story. With some of the other stories being very emotionally delving this story of its own accord became a more lighthearted less dark tale. With neither character collapsing into the misery that so often plagues them. Instead it becomes an entertaining sarcastic story of finding the murderer of their quasi-friend Galem Gorn.
Introspection, Forced assignments, Action-Adventure, and Murder-mysteries.
The Acquisitioners do it all.

New new server is alive!
The new web server is now up and running. There should be a good speed increase in viewing the website.

Another short story started
Work has been started on what I think may be the final short story that will be in The Acquisitioners: Chronicles Volume One. It takes place right in the heart of Hormul, the home village Macal and Lalliard. They wont have to go far to find the latest trouble that lurks in Aerinth.

The Wizard in the works...
I have completed the second draft of The Wizard of Fate. Now based upon a bit of feedback I received from that draft I will be making another quick pass through it to make a few changes/adjustments/enhancements before I send it off to get edited.

New server on the way
Just an update to let you know that a new web server has been ordered. This will greatly help the service and speed of this site. We hope to have it up and hosting in the next few weeks.

Waiting and waiting...
...and waiting for the edits of The Chamber of the Heart to come back to me...
Posted by KRBourgoine at 3:27 PM 0 comments Links to this post
One done, and so is another...
I finished another story yesterday. Well at least the rough draft of it. It is another short story for 3rd book in the series; The Acquisitioners: Chronicles Volume One. It is called The Wizard of Fate. I am very pleased with the outcome of it. It is just over 18,000 words long. One third the lenght of The Chamber of the Heart.
The Wizard of Fate is really dedicated around Lalliard and Xazarnth, the school of magic. A good deal of detail and history of Lalliard and the school can be found in the story.

The Chamber of the Heart still in the works...
There is a slight delay with the editing of The Chamber of the Heart. The story was to be much longer than anticipated causing the editing to take a bit longer. At the moment it is about two thirds done. I will keep you updated.

Site Update
Many new updates have been made to the site. The only links not yet working is the Characters page, which I hope to have done in the next day or so.
The story The Chamber of the Heart is slightly off schedule. It is taking longer to have it edited than anticipated, because it is longer than expected. I hope to have it ready shortly.

K.R.Bourgoine's Acquisitioners.com Launches!
Welcome to the initial launch of the website. Not all the pages are active yet. I am hoping to get everything up and runnin shortly. I am also trying to coincide the official completed launch of the website with a new short story that I have been writing for the 3rd book in the series; The Acquisitioners: Chronicles Volume One.
The story is called The Chamber of the Heart and will be posted for your viewing.
Unlike the first two full-length novels Chronicles is made up a collection of short adventurers that take Macal and Lalliard far across the lands of Aerinth. I think within these stories we learn more about the character's dark histories than in any other story so far.
